Introduction of Campus Intranet
Xi'an polytechnic University campus network was built up in 1998, at the beginning of period, with 2M microwave, having connected with China Education and Research Network(http://www.edu.cn) to reach 100M backbone, 10M desktop,which covered 6 constructions, including the main teaching building, the administrative building, the library, 3 laboratories and so on, and more than 500 information nod, other users may link into the campus intranet through dial-in service. Information center network management chamber equips many workstations and servers such as SUN Ultra 10, SUN Ultra E450, IBM Netfinity500 etc, XYLAN 9WX module Router and PIX520 Firewall,which made up of xi'an polytechnic University website, at the same time it suppies the users with a series of internet service such as DNS、EMAIL、WWW and FTP. In Sep.2002, it was upgraded with 100M fiber joint. In 2002 With the implement of "western university computer network project", having gained 5 million construction fund, then the whole intranet reached 1000M backbone and 100M desktop, which joint the teaching zone, student zone, staff living zone,also includes all computers in LinTong together. In 2005,the campus intranet server was updated to UN fireV880 and SUN fireV280, the campus intranet is safeguarded by boundary Router Quidway NE08E and 7515 double-core exchanger of Digital China , at the same time, it adopts the linkage method of firewall and inbreak detecting. To manage the users from campus intranet according to the charge management software and network management software.The backbone speed of new campus intranet will be a 1000bps Ethernet after this campus intranet is set up, which reach 100mps to join into campus intranet by three class or four class exchang onto desktop.The new campus intranet will sustain more network applications convenientely such as remote teaching,VOD,VC (video conference),OA or all in one card,which will give the most support for talent cultivation, knowledge innovation and management in our university.
